JAKARTA (UR): Malaysia’s archery contingent to the 26th SEA Games warned that competition in the sport was tough, particularly from Indonesia.
“The Indonesian archery team is one of the best in Asia, probably second after South Korea,” Malaysian archery team manager Paul Leong said.
However, he said his team would try to topple Indonesia’s expected domination and steal two gold medals.
“Our target is two gold medals, one in recurve and one in compound,” Leong said. “If we can win more medals, it would be a great achievement.”
Ten of the 11 countries participating in the Games have an archery contingent, with a total of 105 athletes. Qualification rounds start on Sunday at the Bung Karno archery range and the elimination rounds begin on Monday.
