Vietnam eyes four more gold medals in gymnastics

Palembang (UR)- After collecting the highest score in the individual all round event, Vietnam’s Thi Thu Ha Thanh is eyeing four more gold medals in gymnastics at the 26th SEA Games at the Ranau sports center inPalembang.

Thi Thu Ha Thanh collected 53,217 points in the event on Monday.

Indonesian gymnast Eva Butarbutar said she was not surprised by the result.

“I predicted Thi Thu Ha Thanh would be the champion. She won a medal in the individual event and she must be racing for four gold medals,” Eva said.

She added that Thanh’s was a fearsome rival as she had won bronze at the world championshipsin Tokyo.

“She’s performing a whole level above the rest of us,” Eva said.

Thesilver medal went to Vietnam’s Do Thi Ngan Thuongwith 49,700 point and bronze went to Singapore’s Heem Wei Lim with 49,484points.

Indonesia’s Dewi Prahara placed fourth with 47,767  points. (UR5/UR8)
