Nanan Sukarna: Indonesia's marksmen hit their target

Palembang (UR): Officials from the Indonesian shooting association (Perbakin) said they were content with the team's collection of two gold medals in the event at the 26th SEA Games.

“It doesn’t matter that we only got two gold medals in the Games. This was the target we initially set,” Perbakin chairman Nanan Sukarna said after watching the final competition at the firing range at the Jakabaring Sports Complex in Palembang on Wednesday.

Speaking about future developments, Nanan, who is also the National Police deputy chief, said Perbakin would run a training center in Jakabaring alongside its existing institutions in Jakarta and East Kalimantan as the facility met international standards.

In addition to the two gold medals, Indonesia also picked up two bronze medals. The gold medals came from Anang Julianto in the men’s 25-meter standard pistol and Ardhy Maharani in the men’s 50-meter air rifle.

The bronze medals were won by Masruri and Norma Tri Indriani in the 10-meter running target.

Vietnam emerged as the overall winner of the competition with seven gold, three silver and three bronze medals, followed by Malaysia with two gold, four silver and three bronze medals.
