Palembang (UR): Indonesia’s Angeline Soegianto set a new SEA Games record in her win in the women’s 400-meter surface fin swimming event at Jakabaring aquatic arena in Palembang on Monday.

Angeline finished in the fastest time of 3 minutes and 33.30 seconds shattering the old mark of 3:37.92 chalked up by Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Hang in Laos two years ago.

Compatriot Priscillia Gunawan grabbed the silver medal in 3:34.48, also under the old record, followed by Vietnam’s Thi Minh Trung Dang in 3:36.40.

The men’s 400-meter surface was won by Vietnam’s Bao Thu Tran of Vietnam, who broke his own record of 3:12.60 to improve to 3:08.28.

Compatriot Quang Dai Vo won bronze in 3:14.00 behind Indonesia’s Hans H. Yosaputra in 3:12.03.

There are 16 gold medals on offer in fin swimming. Indonesia and Vietnam have each collected four gold medals, followed by Thailand with two gold medals. UR5/UR8
