Sanitary Becomes Host City's Major Concern

As part of its commitments in succeeding the 26th SEA Games, Palembang City Health Agency ensures its involvement in the Games which slated Nov. 11-25 by start monitoring and spreading people’s awareness of hygiene and sanitation in public places all over the city.

Culinary destinations spread along the Musi River are of its major targets. The agency’s officials will run the inspection by applying food and beverages sampling regularly during the Games. They also hold regular meetings with food stall and restaurant owners to keep food safety and visitor comfort well-maintained.

Sanitarians of the city’s public health service centers and hospitals are included. As agents to increase public health quality in their areas through environmental health and disease prevention, they must be regularly trained so they are always updated with new skills.

Officials will also regularly test samples of drinking water sources, such as depots and wells, to be informed to public.

The agency also starts to use fly control services in waste disposal and landfill sites to reduce the possibility of disease outbreak caused by flies.

To provide tourists and visitors with proper facilities, officials also regularly inspects hotels despite educates hotel managements about sanitary practices. A good hotel must put hygiene as its major concern to keep guests comfortable.

Private sector and government offices are also its target. It is important for raise staff awareness in sanitary as they will serve visitors and guests.
