The 26th SEA Games Council and Executive Committee Meeting was successfully held at Nusa Dua Beach Hotel in Bali slated Feb. 25-26. The approval of more than 500 events of 43 sports to be played in Palembang and Jakarta proposed by Indonesia as the host country was a major decision reached during the meeting.
With more than 500 events listed to play, this year's Games will be the biggest ever while the previous record was only 490 events when Jakarta hosted the Games in 1997.
“We are glad that the meeting has finally reached an important decision. We feel honored that the meeting has approved our proposal to play more than 500 events during the Games,” said Abdul Rauf, Secretary of the Indonesia SEA Games Organizing Committee (Inasoc).
The meeting was attended by 60 representatives of 11 participating countries joining the SEA Games Sport and Rules Committee, Rules Executive Committee and Council.
