SEA Games Venues Ahead of Schedule

            The State Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs (Menegpora) Andi Malarangreng emphasized that there should be no doubt that both South Sumatera and DKI Jakarta will be well prepared to be the hosts of the 2011 SEA Games. He then repeated that South Sumatera will be ready to host the SEA Games XXVI.

             The update was disclosed by Andi Malarangreng during a ministry-level coordination meeting headed by the Minister of Coordinating Peoples Welfare (Menko Kesra) Agung Laksono in Jakarta, Tuesday (5.4), in a discussion about the preparedness in executing the 2011 SEA Games. The meeting was also attended by  South Sumatera Governor H. Alex Noerdin, Vice-Governor of DKI Jakarta Priyanto, INOSOC Chief Rahmat Gobel, and several other deputies and directors from related ministries.

            As South Sumatera will be host for the opening and closing ceremonies, Andi says that his team is sure that renovation and construction of the new venues will be completed on time. In fact, some of these venues will be completed ahead of schedule.

            His periodic visit together with the Ministry of Public Works to the site had assured him beyond doubt that the venues will be completed on time. The visits also revealed although some tenders have just been agreed on for several venues such as rock-climbing.

            In addition, SEA Games promotions have already begun resulting in a ‘SEA Games-fever,’ infecting quite a number of cities and districts all over the country. The Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs also explained that the SEA Games mascot will be launched on the 25th of April, accompanied by the SEA Games 200-day count down.
