Taman Menteng

Taman Menteng was inaugurated on April 28th 2007 to be a part of the open green field plan (ruang terbuka hijau) by the city's government. It was formerly used as a soccer stadium named Voetbalbond Indiesche Omstreken, designed by two Dutch architects, F.J Kubatz and P.A.J Moojen in 1921 and by the year of 1961, it became the headquarter of a well-known local soccer club called Persija. The park (located on Jalan Raya HOS Cokoroaminoto, Menteng, Central Jakarta) is a 30-hectare lush greenery field that is also a habitat for more than thirty species of plant. To many who are in search of pristine nature, this park offers you a quick getaway right in the heart of a busy city. The park is considered as an archetypical model of a multi-function park that features a futsal arena, a basket ball court, a children's playground and the two eye-catching glass houses.

You may stroll around freely, exploring the whole park through a network of walkway strips or sitting around on its benches which may lead to viewing the city in an extraordinary way. The glass houses are sublimity - impressive transparent structure with air-conditioned indoor space that is often used to accommodate social events such as exhibitions, weddings, and seminars. However, the most recent attraction springs exclusively from a statue of a child who is a portrayal of a 10-year old Barrack Obama. The US President was reported to spend his childhood in Jakarta, precisely in Menteng area. This two meters high bronze figure was made by a famous artist named Leo Angelo. It is in hope of inspiring the children of Indonesia to always be encouraged in living their lives to the fullest.
