MusiRiver is the longest river in Kota Palembang (Palembang city), Sumatera Selatan province. Musi River’s length is 750 kilometers, and it divides Palembang into two regions, sebrang ilir in the north and sebrang ulu in the south. The water of this river comes from a water spring in Kepahlang, Bengkulu. Musi River has been taking an important role for the life of Palembang citizens since the era of Sriwijaya Empire as the main water transportation in Palembang. This river is very beautiful with a great bridge called Jembatan Ampera (Ampera Bridge) lying above it. The magnificence of this river is very distinguishing, especially during the sunset and in the evening when this river reflects the colorful city lights.

Tourists can enjoy Musi River’s magnificence on the motorboats rented aroung Jembatan Ampera. From the boats they can see city panorama with many important and historical buildings like Lawang Kidul Mosque, Fort Kuto Besak, and many others. During certain times, there are festivals held on this river like boat race and boat decorating competition.
