Theme parks are where the excitement never ceases to entertain. Its collection of rides and other thrilling attractions, assembled together in a large area, is serving many fun-factory moments for anyone from different age to enjoy. Accordingly, Jakarta has one lively place named Dufan (Dunia Fantasi). Located in the Northern part of Jakarta named Ancol, the place is known to be the most popular theme park in Indonesia, offering over 40 main rides and attractions to be a part of a 9.5 hectare land that ushers visitors into the fascinating world of modern science and technology.
Just like any other theme parks, Dufan consists of various architectural forms scattered around various areas, complete with their signage. They landscape to produce those feelings of getting transcended to different places or time amongst its visitors, which is the reason why the theme park consists of eight different regions, namely Jakarta Region, Balada Kera Region, Indonesian Region, European Region, Hikayat Region, American Region, Istana Boneka Region and Asian Region.
Jakarta Region
As soon as you pass the entrance gate, you will be greeted by the first region: Jakarta region. It is characterized by Turangga-rangga, a carousel with various types of wooden horse, fully decorated with thousands of flickering lamps which make the region a beautiful start to explore the theme park.
Balada Kera Region
Move further from Turangga-rangga, you are entering the Balada Kera Region that offers Ubanga-banga (bom bom cars) and a theatre that presents caricatural musical drama played by animatronic dolls of monkeys, gorillas and chimpanzees (including one Bekantan monkey, which is the icon of Dufan).
Indonesian Region
The Indonesia Region offers games arena such as Alap-alap (a mini roller coaster), Baloon Race and Jungkang Jungking (an arena for the little uns that facilitates sliding board, net climbing, and many other games). But the highlight of this area must be the newly-opened thrill-maker Tornado, that has a giant transformer figure.
European Region
The Europe Region offers three main attractions: Beng Beng, an arena built in Switzerland architecture style that can be the place for you to show your mastering skills at various kind of games; the majestic Kicir-kicir, another thrill-maker in a shape of a windmill; and Maxima Stage where many performances of music, dance and play are held.
Hikayat Region
The Hikayat Region might offer you the best bits of Dufan. The most famous roller coaster named Halilintar will take you on a breath-taking ride of thrill while Perang Bintang will give you a futuristic adventure on a moving round-shaped space ship as if you're wandering the outer space. Other arenas of fun include Teater Simulator that takes you on a 4-D experience of cracking the sky, Arung Jeram (artificial arena of rafting) and the wide Rama Shinta hall.
American Regions
There is a little complex of cowboy village in the American Region that offers a number of interesting attractions, all decorated with American architecture. The excitement can be found at Lorong Sesat, a glass-walled trail; Niagara sliding carriage where a boat in a beam of wood form climbs up to 30 meters high before plunged into the water stream below; Rango-rango, a slanted wooden house in the Wild West architecture; and Tembak Jitu, an interactive shooting arena.
Istana Boneka Region
This region has a palace of dolls that features hundreds of animatronic dolls representing cultures from all over the world. Entering the palace, visitors will ride a boat that takes them passing through different continents, with each continent playing its traditional music, creating the nuance as if you're on a journey to explore the globe.
Asian Region
In The Asian Region, you will get the chance to see Jakarta from the height of 33 meters above the ground on Bianglala, a giant windmill, constructed in Thai architecture.
Dunia Fantasiis always packed by visitors, especially on holidays and weekends. If you're seeking for more space, it is best to visit the theme park on weekdays, in morning time, because the whole experience may take one full day to be thoroughly explored.
