Pasar Baru

 

Pasar Baru is a trade area based in Jalan Pasar Baru, Pasar Baru Village, Great Wetland District, Central Jakarta. This shopping center was founded in 1820, and is the oldest shopping center in Jakarta.

The south end is bordered by New Market Road Between Road and South New Market Street and Post Road adjacent to the Gedung Kesenian Jakarta. The north end of New Market Road is bordered by Jalan Kyai Haji Samanhudi, near Metro Pasar Baru and Jalan Ayam Church. On either side of New Market Road there are shops of clothing, textiles and tailor shops, shoe stores and sports equipment, shop glasses, and gold jewelry shops.

Shopping center was built in 1820 as Passer Baroe when Jakarta was still called Batavia. People who shop at Passer Baroe are Dutch people who live in Rijswijk (now Jalan Veteran). The shops in Passer Baroe built with Chinese and European architectural styles. Among the old shops that still exist up to now is Apotek Kimia Farma, Ie Seng Lee stores, furniture stores Jasmine, shop at Tjung-Tjung, and store glasses Seis (Tjun Lie). Tailor suit that has been used since the Isardas, Hariom, and Gehimal, and women shopping at fabric stores and Lilaram Bombay. Big stores that formerly existed among Shops and Stores Europa de Zon. Matahari Putra Prima retailers set up business in New Market in 1958.
