            Indonesia has 61 international and domestic airports serving all major cities, while Jakarta is serviced by the Soekarno-Hatta Airport laid 20 kilometres northwest of the city. Palembang as a host city of SEA Games XXVI 2011 is serviced by the International Airport of Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II. This airport was named after Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin, the last Sultan of Palembang.

            Garuda Indonesia, Indonesia's prime national airline provides flights to the country from 24 international destinations including Bangkok, Beijing, Hong Kong, Ho Chi Minh City, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Sydney, Melbourne, Jeddah, Singapore, Shanghai, Guangzhou (Canton), Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Dubai and Amsterdam. Over the next four years Garuda intends to expand its network in Europe to include destinations such as Frankfurt, London, Paris and Rome.

            Other domestic airlines flying from and to Indonesia's capital city include Lion Air, Batavia Air, Merpati Nusantara, Sriwijaya Air, and Indonesia Air Asia.

            All travelers to Indonesia must be in possession of a passport that is valid for at least six months from the date of arrival, and have proof (tickets) of onward or return passage.

            Free Tourist short stay visas for  30 days are extended to tourists from 12 countries, namely from Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR, Chile, Equador, Morocco and Peru.

           An airport tax of Rp 150,000 is levied by airports on departing passengers on international flights and Rp 25,000 for those on domestic routes.

1)      Garuda Indonesia Airways

            PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, publicly known as Garuda Indonesia, is the flag carrier of Indonesia. It is named after the mystical giant bird Garuda of Hinduism and Buddhist mythology. It is headquartered at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang, near Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia. Most of Garuda Indonesia shares are owned by the Indonesian Government and employs 5,808 staff (as of December 2010).

            According to the sacred texts of Hinduism and Hindu mythology, Garuda is the carrier of the God Vishnu; a representation of Garuda appears in the National Emblem of Indonesia, Garuda Pancasila. The airline's main hub is Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, and the airline also has a hub at Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali. The airline flies to a number of destinations in Southeast Asia, East Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Australia. It also previously flew to several destinations in North America. From June 2007, Garuda, along with all Indonesian airlines, was banned from flying to the EU. However, this ban has been lifted since July 2009. Before it, at May 2008, Garuda Indonesia received its IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA).

            Garuda Indonesia is listed as a 4-star airline by Skytrax, and is also listed among Skytrax's Quality Approved Airlines. In May 2010, the airline was named as the World's Most Improved Airline by Skytrax during 2010 World Airline Awards in Hamburg. Garuda Indonesia announced that it plans to join the SkyTeam airline alliance by 2012, as well as to be rated a 5-star airline in 2013.

            Garuda currently operates 93,000 annual flights to a total of 50 destinations (31 domestic, 19 international) throughout Asia– including the Middle East– and Australia; Australiaand Japanare vital tourism markets.

            On 13 October 2009, Garuda Indonesia announced they will be resuming flights to Europefor the first time after removal from the E.U. blacklist. The flight, operating since 1 June 2010, is to Amsterdam, Netherlandswith a stopover at Dubai, United Arab Emiratesoperated by an Airbus A330-200aircraft.

            AirAsia Berhadis a Malaysia-based low-cost airline. AirAsia is Asia's largest low-fare, no-frills airline and a pioneer of low-cost travel in Asia.             Malaysia Airlines System Berhad, DBAMalaysia Airlines (abbreviated MAS), is the government-owned flag carrierof Malaysia. Malaysia Airlines operates flights from its home base, Kuala Lumpur International Airport, and its secondary hub in Kota Kinabalu. It has its headquarters on the grounds of Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airportin Subang, Selangor.

            Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij N.V., doing business as KLM Royal Dutch Airlines (Dutch: Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij, literally "Royal Aviation Company"; usual English translation: Royal Dutch Airlines), is the national airline of the Netherlandsand is part of Air France-KLM.             Philippine Airlines, Inc.(abbreviated as PAL), also known historically as Philippine Air Lines, is the flag carrierand national airlineof the Philippines.             Cebu Air, Inc., operating as Cebu Pacific Air, is based on the grounds of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (Manila Terminal 3), Pasay City, Metro Manila, the Philippines. It offers scheduled flights to both domestic and international destinations. Cebu Pacific Air is currently the country's leading domestic carrier, serving the most domestic destinations with the largest number flights and routes, and equipped with the youngest fleet. Its main base is Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Manila, with other hubs at Mactan-Cebu International Airport, Francisco Bangoy International Airport and Diosdado Macapagal International Airport.

            The airline is a subsidiary of JG Summit Holdings, controlled by the Gokongwei family - one of the richest Filipino-Chinese families based in the Philippines.             Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (Thai) is the national flag carrier and largest airline of Thailand. Formed in 1988, the airline's headquarters are located in Chatuchak District, Bangkok, and operates out of Suvarnabhumi Airport. Thai is a founding member of the Star Alliance. Thai is a major shareholder which hold 39% shares of Nok Air—a low-cost Bangkok-based carrier. In August 2010, Thai announced to own 51% of a joint venture for a low-cost airline based in Thailand, with Tiger Airways owning the remaining 49%.

            From its hub at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Thai flies to 72 destinations in 35 countries, using a fleet of 85 aircraft. The airline operates one of the 5 longest non-stop commercial flights. The airline operates one of the longest non-stop commercial flights of Boeing 777-300 from Bangkok to Athens(seasonal), and the longest non-stop commercial flight of Boeing 777-200 from Bangkok to Brisbane. Thai Airways International is the first Asia-Pacific airline to serve London Heathrow Airport.
